Global sports entertainment leader Topgolf® recently opened the doors to a new location in Nashville, and its first dedicated music venue.  The two-story, 7,900-square-foot concert hall has been equipped with a NEXO GEO S12 line array paired with Yamaha CL5 front-of-house console and two Rio3224-D input/output stage boxes.

J Sound Services (Nashville) was assigned the task of design and installation of the audio system in the 600-seat concert hall, which features an open floor space and second-level VIP deck offering balcony views and premium seating. Both local artists and national acts are already playing at the venue with shows featuring Corey Smith, Los Lobos, George Clinton, to name a few.

“The customer’s priority was that the system had to be the best-sounding room in town and suitable for live recording and broadcasts,” states Jason Spence, President, J Sound Services.

The J Sound Services team began their design process with NEXO’s proprietary NS-1 System Configuration and Modeling Software, selecting a GEO S12 line array, configured with 5x GEO S1210 plus a S1230 per side, and 6x LS18 subs, three flown in a box array, and the other three mounted under the stage.  4x ID24 compact speakers are used for front fill.  Artists are using 6x NEXO 45°N-12 line monitors for stage monitoring, as well as a number of wireless IEMs.

The whole system is run over a Dante network, powered and processed by 5x NXAMP4x4 amplifier/controllers fitted with NXDT104 Dante cards. Amplifier tuning and alignment was accomplished using the NEXO NeMo system management software.

“By all accounts, we nailed it!” says Jason Spence.  “Soon we’ll be testing the broadcast experience with CMT recording their upcoming Crossroads Series in the venue. In choosing the PA, besides sound quality, there was a budget that we needed to adhere to. In my opinion, there are only a couple of PAs on the planet that hit the criteria, and NEXO was one of them. Prior to the decision, the Topgolf team did get to hear concerts and events using NEXO systems so that helped with our recommendation.”

Yamaha MXR7-D processors handle audio distribution and integration with the rest of the facility and the matrix processor for Studio Technologies Dante intercom devices.
