NEXO STM powers the Greatest Dance in the Universe

Born out of the fusion of music brought to Argentina by Italian and Spanish immigrants, Cuarteto is a popular dance music genre from Argentina, particularly from Córdoba, characterized by a fast-paced 4/4 rhythm, accordion, piano, and cheerful melodies.

A Cuarteto festival is always a big event, particularly in its home city of Córdoba and especially when celebrated Cuarteto artist La Mona Jimenéz tops the bill.

And so it was that El Baile Más Grande Del Universo (the Greatest Dance in the Universe) took place in the parking lot of Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes on February 22nd, with La Mona joined by fellow Cuarteto stars Eugenia Quevedo and LBC (La Banda de Carlitos), attracting a sell-out crowd of 50,000 people.

This being South America, the show got underway at 11PM with the headliner taking the stage at 1.30AM. And with a crowd that came to dance, organisers demanded a powerful sound system with plenty of low-end punch.

So local production services company Piermarini Sound deployed a NEXO STM system comprising left and right hangs of 12 x STM M48 Main and B112 Bass modules, with additional arrays of 8 x M48/B112 to address the wide audience area.

Thirty-six NEXO STM118 subs stacked 2-high across the front of the stage ensured an LF performance that could be felt as much as heard and 12 x STM M28 were deployed as front fills to cover the audience nearest the stage.

Ninety-six channels of amplification and processing came from 24 x NEXO NXAMP4X4 Powered TD Controllers in a system designed and managed by Nicolas Loyola with support from Martín Onorato of Los Angeles Música, the NEXO distributor in Argentina.
