NEXO AND YAMAHA JOINT TRAINING INITIATIVE IN SINGAPORE

Dez 2016 | Nachrichten | Singapore

A special NEXO ETC1 seminar has been hosted by Yamaha Music (Asia) Ptd Ltd in Singapore, part of a unique educational collaboration between Yamaha and the Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Yamaha’s programme is aimed at enhancing technical expertise in the audio industry, and organised the 2-day seminar to help address understanding of key concepts in the design and implementation of professional systems. NEXO’s Engineering Support Manager Nicolas Poitrenaud flew in from France to supervise the seminar, bringing the successful ETC training itinerary that covers a range of topics, including sound reinforcement principles, system design and digital audio networking.

With a large number of attendees, ranging from students from four different Singapore educational institutions,to experienced industry practitioners, the Yamaha/NEXO tutorial team focussed on real-life applications to help their audience grasp complex audio concepts. With several NEXO loudspeaker systems and Yamaha control equipment set up in the auditorium, students also had the chance to analyse professional tools in a hands-on environment.

One of the highlights of the event was the training session in NEXO’s NS-1 proprietary simulation software. For many attendees, it was the first introduction to system configuration and design software. Nicolas Poitrenaud encouraged them to examine their own system designs using the NS-1 tool, graphically illustrating the fundamental differences between point-source and line-source loudspeakers.

This is Yamaha’s first year running this training initiative with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, but, as Lawrence Tan explains, “the collaboration has helped us to execute programmes that cater for students as well as lecturers. Education plays an integral role in the development of the industry, and we are committed to boosting the calibre of Singapore’s technical expertise and nurturing future talents.”
