The Mall atrium, which includes the largest LED ball in the world, presented a huge challenge for audio and video integrators who called upon consultant Sarana Audio Gemilang and Acoustic Sound Image Integrated Solution (ASIIS) to design and install a sound system that was able to throw from ceiling to ground level, 6 floors in all.
A combination of NEXO cabinets, PS15-R2 with RS15 subs, was installed by NEXO distributor ASIIS. By manipulating the position of the asymmetric horn in the PS Series, ASIIS sound designers were able to adjust the loudspeakers’ coverage to match perfectly the audience areas in this challenging acoustic environment. Andy Mulya Sutikno of ASIIS reports that “the results were better than expected; in fact they were fantastic. We achieved very even coverage from 5th floor where the cabinets were mounted, down to the ground floor, covering the 360 degree circular void of the atrium.
“We used NEXO’s design software NS-1 and achieved a high degree of accuracy from modelling to actual result. The RS15 subs provided a forward throw of energy much better than any sub we’ve ever tried. The result of the sub is very clean, no cancellation anywhere in the area, working well with R&B, EDM and House Music even though Baywalk Mall, like all shopping malls, is finished in concrete, granite and metal furnishings and there is a very high reverberation factor.”
The Mall owner tested the system himself and really could not believe what he heard; he was very satisfied with the result and now plans to give ASIIS the next phase of the project when it is built.
