For the fifth year running, NEXO STM Series modular line array is the chosen PA for the extraordinary ‘Night with an Opera’ project, staged at the Lochotin Amphitheatre in Plzen, Czech Republic.
This year, the JK Tyl Theater presents Verdi’s ‘Nabucco’. The special mission of the company is to popularise opera with rock fans, and with people who don’t normally go to the theatre.
Audio production company RENTALPRO is the regular supplier for the high-profile opera performances, which attracts an audience of over 6,000 spectators. Based in Brno, RENTALPRO has built an experienced team of Lukas Foniok (technical production), Pavel Vojta (system design) and Jakub Lis (FOH engineer) who each year put together the audio systems according to the stage design for the opera.
This year’s stage was dominated by two huge 13-meter high towers, a symbolic reference to the Tower of Babel, and 200sq.m. LED screens to set the visual scene of the Babylonian Empire in 600BC. As well as hundreds of performers and live animals, the powerful scenic effects include state-of-the-art lighting, video art and pyrotechnics, and of course a circus with fire-juggling, ballet and gymnastics.
NEXO’s modular STM Series line array system is paired with a Yahama CL5 digital console, a versatile combination favoured by RENTALPRO, one of the leading audio providers in the Czech Republic.
The configuration for ‘Nabucco’ is with 12 sets per side of M46 main and B112 bass modules, plus a 4-per-side hang of STM S118 subs behind the main PA. Completing the system are the smaller STM M28 main cabinets, used in this design as frontfill, and some additional S118 subs. All monitoring on stage is NEXO 45°N-12 wedges.
STM Series is the ideal system for this special event, providing detailed and precise sound for the award-winning opera singers on stage, as well as the output power and dynamic energy that transforms this production from the traditional opera genre.
